about me

Hi there . . . and thanks so much for visiting me online  . . . . .

So, who am I? What do I do? What do you need to know about me? Well, here goes . . . .

I am a Sydney-based commentator on news, style and pop culture issues and have recently been appointed Entertainment editor-at-large at www.news.com.au. I am also a commentator on TV shows like Sunrise, The Morning Show, Weekend Sunrise, A Current Affair and Today Tonight. I also (when he will have me) play on the nightly politics & current affairs panel show, Paul Murray Live on Sky News.  I am also the social/lifestyle/pop culture commentator on 2Dayfm’s Kyle and Jackie O show. Oh, and I write a weekly wrap-up column about all things ‘social’ and ‘media’ for the Australian industry bible, Mediaweek.

In the diverse media mix, I have written for Grazia magazine, InStyle, Australian Traveller  and was a contributing editor for the Proctor & Gamble magazine, Rouge while I had the best experience in London, talking all things Royal Wedding, for the Seven Network, 2Dayfm and Grazia. I have spoken to rooms full of executive and personal assistants about the highlights (so far) of my career, focus on balancing the work and motherhood mix. Oh, did I mention I am a single mum to the most delectable son, Connor? Now he is complete bliss.

I have worked with swag of leading brands, either hosting events or in ambassadorial roles: Westfield, Proctor & Gamble, Smirnoff, Chambord , the Brisbane Fashion Festival, Jigsaw, Sportscraft, TV1, Alannah Hill, Crown Lager,Wella, Pantene, Crossroads, Macleans, Clairol, Samsung, Max Factor, the Waratahs, the Australian Jockey Club and Sydney Autumn Carnival.

As a former fashion & social editor on The Daily and Sunday Telegraph, which consolidated my print media credentials, I also created; executive produced and presented Fox Fashion, the first locally produced fashion & beauty-oriented show on Australian screens. And yes, I even co-hosted a series of the show with Mr Hugh Jackman.

Behind the camera, I worked with Mushroom Pictures and the Film Finance Commission on two TV documentaries for the Nine Network, one on the history of lingerie titled ‘Next to Nothing’ and the other, a history of swimwear, called ‘Nothing to Hide’. Now those were a fun few months . . .

As for the celebs I’ve interviewed, well, in reading it does sound like a diverse roll-call: Elle Macpherson, Naomi Campbell, Cate Blanchett, Naomi Campbell, Mischa Barton, Paris Hilton, Nicole Kidman, Linda Evangelista, Sarah O’Hare and Megan Gale, Ian Thorpe, Jennifer Aniston, Tommy Hilfiger, Rachel Zoe, Sarah Ferguson, Russell Crowe, Collette Dinnigan, Helena Christensen, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Hawkins, Jade Jagger, Marc Newson, Kylie Minogue,  Alexandra Richards and Sophie Dahl.

I also co-hosted the Sydney episode of the international TV style series, Fashion Avenue, with British model Jodie Kidd; was on-air stylist on the Network Ten show, The X Factor, working with my friend, John Reid (who managed Elton John and Queen) and has been a guest judge on Australia’s Next Top Model and Project Runway.

Some of the most exhilarating work (read: mad and fun) times I’ve had were covering the London, Milan, Paris and New York fashion shows, while attending the Emmy awards and the Elton John ‘Oscars’ party? Yep, they were absolutely everything I expected.

Aside from all the ‘glam’ in my working world, I lend support to various fundraising causes: the Sydney Children’s Hospital; the Prince of Wales Hospital; the Black Tie for Breast Cancer fundraiser; Dress for Success; MS awareness; the Cancer Foundation, the ‘For a Cure’ Foundation and The ‘Chocolate Ball’ for research into FSHD.

Well, there you go . . .  hope we can start up a conversation, somewhere on the great social media landscape . . . Until then!
