George Michael - Praying for Time - A Tribute With Your Sydney Symphony Orchestra

Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will perform a George Michael tribute concert to celebrate and honour one of the greatest pop icons of a generation at Sydney Opera House on 6 and 7 July.

Originally planned by the SSO as an anniversary concert marking 30 years since the release of Michael’s seminal debut album Faith, the SSO will now pay tribute to a star gone too soon with a 30- song bill of his greatest hits.

The singer/songwriter has sold over 100 million records worldwide with a remarkable catalogue of music spanning pop, soul and disco. As the world continues to pay tribute to the man and his legacy, Diesel, David Campbell, Sam Sparro, Brendan Maclean, Jade MacRae, Gary Pinto, Carmen Smith and Natasha Stuart will lead SSO in Australia’s own special tribute.

In full symphonic sound, the concert will feature Michael’s greatest hits including Careless Whisper, Faith, Father Figure, Praying for Time and more. A black leather jacket, aviator sunglasses, and a classic guitar pose catapulted George Michael to the Top of the Charts across the world, where he stayed for four decades.

Having achieved stardom as part of duo band Wham! Michael went on to release five studio albums, two compilation albums and 44 singles. His 1987 debut solo album Faith sold over 25 million units worldwide, hitting number 1 in both the US and UK. His next album Listen Without Prejudice went on to win Album of the Year in 1991 at The Brit Awards.

Older, Songs from the Last Century and Patience followed, all achieving worldwide acclaim amounting in a lifetime of awards including three Brit Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and two Grammy Awards.

The guests were served Moet & Chandon champagne, cocktails (Passion Fruit Martini, Gin Gloucster) and a three course sit down dinner.

Embrace romance with Alice McCALL’s Fall ‘17 collection, We Float. Featuring feminine playsuits and soft romantic silhouettes, it’s like falling in love again. The thrills. The frills.

Filled with flowers, as are all great love stories – garden rose embroidery kisses the neckline of petite playsuits and watercolour blossoms float through silk blouses.

Sugar plum posies adorn Sunday dresses and wildflower thistle’s are every bit as wonderful scattered across bell sleeved mini dresses and ornamental playsuits.

Tiptoeing between vintage and modern, We Float is fresh and youthful, with a maintained elegance and timelessness. Statement fabrications compliment the vintage colour palette and traditional silhouettes.

With injections of frilled knitwear in turmeric yellow and leopard print tailoring in forest green, We Float is fantastically unexpected and chic.

The detail is in abundance; waisted ties, lace trimming, tiered bodices, keyhole cutouts and frilled edging decorate the collection.

We Float is exciting and fun, romantic and feminine. It’s dusty sunsets and moonlit waters. It’s falling in love all over again.

Jo Malone London Unveils 'The Bloomsbury Set' in Sydney

Jo Malone London held an unveiling for ‘The Bloomsbury Set’, a collection of limited edition scents inspired by the eponymous group of free spirited British artists philosophers and writers who lived and worked in the first half of the 20th century.

A private home in Paddington was transformed to create an artist’s studio environment with hand-painted canvases adorning the walls from floor to ceiling.

Each of the five fragrances was revealed to reflect a facet of the weekend home and living canvas of the Bloomsbury group, Charleston House.

Leather & Artemisia, one of the five colognes was inspired by leather-bound books in the library, the room where much of the Bloomsbury members’ creativity blossomed.

Jo Malone London ‘The Bloomsbury Set’ will be available from 5th March 2017.
