KK Collection’s founder and designer, George Cooper has unveiled plans toadd two new suites to Kahanda Kanda resort set to open in time for Sri Lanka’s peak season inNovember 2018.

Like the existing ten suites, the two new suites will reflect a style that is relaxed and inviting yet sophisticated. The additional suites will also feature private plunge pools. Where possible, décor will incorporate the work of local Sri Lankan artists and views of the surrounding jungle and tea estate on which the resort is set just 15kms from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Galle Fort.

George Cooper, KK Collection founder and designer said, “For me it is attention to detail that makes a hotel special. I believe it is important that when a guest wakes up in the morning that they know where they are, and they need reference points.”

“The rooms at Kahanda Kanda are decorated like a private home. I have used lots of my own personal possessions including porcelain and pictures to furnish the rooms, so that when guests arrive, they do not walk into an antiseptic room. The two new suites will reflect this same philosophy and each will have their own personality and flair whilst being authentic to their exceptional setting.”

George began his career as an interior designer in London, his clients including members of the royal family. In 1999, he travelled to Sri Lanka and happened upon a 10-acre tea estate which was purchased in a hasty decision and became the site of the well regarded Kahanda Kanda resort followed by KK Beach overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Kahanda Kanda is the original of the stylish set located just 15 kilometres from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Galle Fort in Sri Lanka. Set on a working tea plantation, Kahanda Kanda maintainsthe gentle and timeless ‘country life’ intrinsic to this area.

The resort’s elegant design was born of a collaboration between George and Sri Lanka basedAustralian architect Bruce Fell-Smith. Each of the ten individually designed villas take in breathtaking panoramic views of lush greenery through large glass windows and offer guests all the luxuries of five-star service whilst maintaining a sense of privacy.
