Champagne Bollinger has unveiled the new La Grande Année 2008 vintage at an intimate dinner event held at Fred’s Restaurant in Paddington, revealing a wine of infinite depth from one of the most anticipated vintages of Champagne since the start of the 21st century.

Guests including Chef Dan Hong, Magdalena Roze, Heidi Middleton, Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy, Tamsin and Patrick Johnson, Genevieve Smart and Megan Morton enjoyed a gastronomic experience that celebrated some of Australia’s greatest producers paired perfectly to the exceptional 2008 vintage from Bollinger, showcasing the craftmanship of this exceptional cuvée.

A highlight of the bespoke menu created by Fred’s included a seafood dish created specially to match with Bollinger La Grande Année. Featuring a rare type of mollusc known as a Razor Heart which is sourced off the west coast of South Australia, the dish offered guests the opportunity to taste a true delicacy so unique that is has not been commercially available for 30 years.

Guests left the event with a beautiful handwritten recipe card to recreate their own perfectly paired Bollinger dish at home and a pair of rustic linen napkins featuring the distinguished Bollinger crest emblem.

La Grande Année is the embodiment of the carefully preserved traditional expertise of Bollinger Champagne House. The wine is exclusively vinified in old small oak barrels and Bollinger has never abandoned this traditional craft method, which helps develop aromas of great finesse. After a prolonged ageing on its lees, even today every bottle of La Grande Année is still riddled and disgorged entirely by hand.

A wine over ten years in the making, the release of La Grande Année 2008 signifies an elevated direction for the cuvée, which features a complete redesign of the bottle and packaging, including an elegant gift box featuring a wood and white design for the case.

La Grande Année 2008 will be available nationally in August 2019 across selected retailers including The Wine Emporium, The Champagne Gallery and Prince Wine Stores with an RRP of $250.
