The Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award is part of a global initiative celebrating the success and vision of entrepreneurial business women. The Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award was created in 1972, the bicentennial of the Maison and the year of the first Grand Cuvée Dame, and has recognized exceptional female entrepreneurs and their professional successes with every successive year.

The Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award pays homage to Madame Clicquot, the first woman to establish herself as such a leading female figure in the business world. Since the Award’s inception, the worthy female heirs of “la grande dame de la Champagne” have been recognized for their own unique and pioneering qualities. Meeting challenges and breaking ceilings, these Award winners share an entrepreneurial spirit, audacious foresight, firm creativity and talent. Like the Veuve Clicquot herself, the Award has enjoyed an international dimension, honouring more than 300 women in 27 countries since its inception.

The winner of the Australian chapter of the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award will be announced on Tuesday 2 July 2019 at a celebration in Sydney. She will receive a trophy, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame, and a trip to France, where she will visit the Veuve Clicquot Maison, the Manoir de Verzy and the House’s vineyards in Reims. During her visit, the winner will have a vine baptised in her name, recognising her legacy and lifelong relationship with Veuve Clicquot.

Liz Ann Macgregor, a previous winner of the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award and Chair of judges, commented: “Now in its 47th year, the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award continues to pay homage to Madame Clicquot’s trailblazing spirit as the first woman to establish herself as a leading female figure in the business world. Our 2019 finalists share her pioneering qualities, defying barriers with audacious flair; every one of them is an innovator and leader in their chosen field, and a worthy candidate for the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award.”
