The Land Rover Polo in the City kicked off at Centennial Parklands this year under cloudy skies but with an exciting line-up of celebrities and international polo players.

The place to be was a new fixture inaugurated this year by presenting sponsor Land Rover, ‘Studio Velar’. Showcasing the new Range Rover Velar and celebrating ‘the art of reductionism’, the elegant marble lined design pavilion welcomed Land Rover ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins, Charlotte Caslick and Phil Waugh as well as VIP guests including Ksenija Lukich, Steffanie Roberts, Michael “Wippa” Wipfli and Jack Vanderhart.

Hosted by Jaguar Land Rover Managing Director Matthew Wiesner, the Land Rover VIP Marquee was styled as a sleek set of interconnected cubes, complete with designer furniture and sprawling parquetry-lined verandahs.

In perhaps the most luxurious offering on course, the fixture boasted its own marble bars serving chic aperitifs and elegant seasonally-inspired canapés such as Yamba Prawn on Squid Ink Tapioca Puff with Tequila Lime Dressing & Guacamole and Coriander Ginger Fish Cake Pops with Black Sesame Seeds & Chilli Caramel Glaze.

The Sydney event is the first in the Land Rover Polo in the City series which will happen around the country in November and December, with Land Rover hosting over 500 VIPs and customers over five weeks in five states.

In its endless quest to go above and beyond, Land Rover partners with equestrian events all around the world, from its global alignment with the World Equestrian Games to its recently announced sponsorship of the Event Rider Masters. Land Rover’s iconic 4×4 vehicles are synonymous with equestrian sport and are used by the equestrian community week in week out, helping them make the most of their world.

“This is our third year as presenting partner of the Land Rover Polo in the City series, and we are proud to again support this innovative, urban polo series” said Jaguar Land Rover Australia’s Matthew Wiesner.

“We’re especially excited this year to be showcasing the new Range Rover Velar. With elegant simplicity, pioneering consumer technology, powerful, taut surfaces and a stunning silhouette, the Range Rover Velar is going to compete with the polo for attention.”
