The fascinating new film Madhattan will have its’ small screen debut on Tuesday 18th July on the Lifestyle You! channel and be available on demand afterwards.

The story follows one remarkable woman’s journey from the Aussie outback of the remote Kimberley in Western Australia to the catwalks of New York Fashion Week.

Former jillaroo and camp cook-turned milliner, Felicity “Flic” Brown, started re-working her jillaroo mates’ hats in time for the Kimberley’s racing season each year. Selftaught hatmaker Felicity “Flic” Brown has come a long way since then.

Filmmaker Carolyn Constantine (Wide Open Sky, Winner Audience Award, SFF 2015) was drawn into Felicity’s unique and creative world after a chance meeting and the cinematographer turned director knew that Felicity’s inspirational journey and wonderful hats would be worthy of the telling.

Madhattan is the fascinating and often challenging story of her journey as she takes her magnificent feathered and flowered creations, inspired by the incredible natural beauty of the Kimberley region, all the way from the red dust of Broome to the bustling sidewalks of New York.

Along the way, there are trials and tribulations as she faces one obstacle after another to get her to the world’s most famous Fashion Week in the Big Apple, including a skin cancer scare that set her NY adventures in motion.

She says” I wanted to make a film about a strong, creative female character taking on the world from a remote place and hopefully it will inspire audiences to pursue their own dreams and goals”. As Flic so passionately states in the film ‘life is short …so just have a go’.”

The film also features a beautiful country jazz fusion soundtrack from former Go- Between composer Amanda Brown and acclaimed jazz artist Jonathan Zwartz.

A national screening tour is planned for the second half of 2017 to bring this inspiring film about this go-getting milliner to audiences around the country.
