Pomelo Online was launched at the height of the COVID-19 crisis by the team behind the popular, Bowery Lane in Sydney’s CBD and corporate catering and event companies Pomelo+Co and Catering Project. Shedding over 130 staff and with no market for their usual corporate clientele, a swift and effective business pivot was erected to remain relevant and stand a chance in the rapidly changing hospitality landscape.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image media=”68331″ media_width_percent=”100″ alignment=”center” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In seven days, the team forecast the overall impact of COVID-19 and took action to transition the business from a corporate caterer into a family focused restaurant-quality meal delivery service, delivering to Greater Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle and the Central Coast.  Within one week, Pomelo Online had its own viable ecommerce site, in bound marketing and communication, a solid logistics plan and wholesome, delicious food ready to be delivered to customers doors throughout wider Sydney.

Derbas acknowledges that while they are still in the early stages of their business reinvention, their nimble and dedicated staff are to be commended for what they have achieved in just four weeks of trading under the Pomelo Online brand.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image media=”68328″ media_width_percent=”100″ alignment=”center” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The ethos behind Pomelo Online is simple – to deliver wholesome restaurant quality meals to families at a great value. Five different meal boxes are available with five dishes that have been designed to feed a family of 4-5 people. The meal boxes start at $175 and equate to $7 per serve providing real value for money for local families who are looking to avoid huge supermarket shops or simply are looking for a choice and affordable dining options while at home.

The ‘5 Night Value Meal Box’ is the most popular at $175 and consumers can expect to see dishes such as luxe beef lasagne and Moroccan lamb tajine included.

The ‘5 Night Family Faves’ includes all the crowd pleasers (braised beef cheek and lamb moussaka to name a few).

Vegetable Korma and Vegetarian Risotto are just two of the five dishes incorporated into the ‘Vegetarian Meal Box’.

For gluten intolerant households the Jamaican Jerk Chicken and Thai Fish Curry are just two of the dishes included in the ‘Gluten Free Meal Box’.

And for those who are missing the true restaurant experience a ‘Fine Dining Meal Box’ works out to be $11 per serve (total of $275) and will include Confit duck leg and Roasted Salmon among three other premium meals.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image media=”68325″ media_width_percent=”100″ alignment=”center” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A ‘7 Nights Couples Dinner Box’ for $175 has been added to the offering and ensures a different meal can be enjoyed each night. Options to individually order meals for two people are also available and start from $11 per serve.

A unique licence means that Pomelo Online can serve a variety of wines and beers individually or in bundles to pair with their meal packs. Pomelo Online is also delivering fresh produce including a meat pack sourced from local Australian farmers, seafood from Sydney Fish Markets and fruit and vegetables from local farms.

Pomelo Online is servicing Greater Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast and Wollongong. Each region in Greater Sydney has two delivery days a week, Wollongong is once a week on Tuesday and Central Coast/Newcastle is once a week on Thursdays. Delivery cost is a flat fee of $20 and cut off time for orders is 3pm.
