AS the  word ‘supermodel’ is at times, somewhat overused, a legitimate one is landing in Sydney tomorrow.

Shanina Shaik is arriving in Sydney ‘to walk’ exclusively for the final show at fashion week on Friday night.

American fashion label, Oscar de la Renta, is an iconic name and was the perfect choice for Mercedes Australian Fashion Week organisers, IMG, in order to make Australian fashion week a much more viable international showcase of resort fashion collections.

While industry sources tell news.com.au the 400k appearance price tag – the amount allegedly paid to Bella Hadid who walked for Aussie label Misha Collection yesterday, – has been wildly exaggerated, Shania, at 25, certainly won’t be in that pay-for-prance league.

Shanina has become an international star in the modelling world particularly after being part of the annual mega Victoria’s Secret show as well as being the face of Kookai and the likes of Bonds and Bloomingdales.

Aussie-born Shanina is en route to Sydney now and is being brought out by Etihad Airways, which has just signed as the global airline partner for fashion weeks around the world.

The grand Oscar de la Renta show is being presented by Etihad Airways and supported by Destination NSW while VIP guests will be ferried to a grand after party at Sydney Opera House on Friday night.

Certainly a spectacular way to end what will have been a crazy week of primping, posing & doing business also top of the priority list.
