Men and women are switching off dating apps in droves according to Forbes. It’s not surprising considering the horror dating stories, and viral backlash. The good news is, there’s now a solution, even an antidote…

Frustrated with the status quo, two Sydney businesswomen got together and created a brand new dating concept. Never seen in Australia…until now. It’s called ‘Met Through Friends’.

‘People like things in their life to be top notch’, says co-founder Wendy Searl. ‘Yet when it comes to dating, we are forced to accept a soggy, fast food version. We’re here to change that.’

“At it’s core, the philosophy is simple, Met Through Friends host events that have the vibe of a night out with friends. Sydney is busy, it’s a big city and it’s hard to find that connection. This winter, we’ve launched French and Italian wine tasting events to warm up our guests. The personal touch and enjoyment is being brought back to dating.”

“It’s very much in line with current US trends, including what’s happening in New York. Much like the slow food movement, people are gravitating to slower dating options. As reported in Men’s Health, when even millennials have swipe burnt out, you know something has to change.

It’s also just great business sense. ‘The response has been really positive, and we are hoping to expand across other states’. Australia has over 2 million singles, of which many are trying to find a better experience. Discerning people are shying away from online, but they still want to date. They love the idea of fresh, new events, based on common interests.”

Rather than a night out where you might meet someone, buy a ticket to one our events and know everyone you’ll meet is single, while enjoying fantastic food and wine. What more could you want?
