Steve Madden’s billion dollar global empire has celebrated their Australian launch with top tier media and influencers with an exclusive warehouse style party in Sydney. In 1990, Steve Madden started his company out of his car. With shoes filling the trunk, and the iconic Mary Lou on the dashboard, he and David Cristobal drove a red Nissan around the city selling Steve Madden to boutiques and department stores. Self-improvement drives Steve. For the Australian launch we ask #whatdrivesyou

“I’ve always been a big fan of Australia. Not only do I look forward to visiting, but this launch is one of many incredible things I’m looking forward to for the brand in 2019.” Steve Madden, Founder, Creative & Design Chief, NYC, March 2019.

The historic Commune was transformed into an urban NYC set for the “What Drives You” Campaign launch. A vintage Ferrari, BMW, Holden Torana and El Camino recreated the moments Steve started his business. Neon lights, old school road signs and fantasy petrol pumps generated creative content with guests on social media elevating the party experience.

A break out area with Arcade Games allowed guests to drive into their own fantasy destiny. International DJ, Tigerlily headlined the party with local support from DJ Tori Levett. Over 50 top tier targeted influencers showcased their individual street style in Steve Madden shoes as a first to market launch approach for the Australian collection.

Life With Out Andy captured moments throughout the night and Harry Café De Wheels provided mini hotdogs and bites straight from their iconic foodtruck. NYC themed cocktails such as Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx were served to highlight Steve Madden’s NYC roots.

The Steve Madden crew invited guests to express their individuality, be innovative, daring and inspiring. Ultimately asking, #whatdrivesyou?

There are two Steve Madden stores in Australia (Robina and Highpoint) with a further 6 opening’s scheduled. The online store launched in December 2018 and is a driving force for Australian consumers looking for inspirational footwear to wear on the streets, to work, to party and to live in.
