Alex de Minaur chooses an Airbnb as his Aussie Open location: with fans able to stay later this year

As the 2025 Australian major tennis tournament approaches, Alex de Minaur, Australia’s No. 1 tennis player, is settling into his temporary home near Rod Laver Arena – an Airbnb.

Known for his relentless energy on the court, ‘The Demon’ values the calm and comfort of staying in a space that feels like home, especially during the high-pressure tournament season.

“Staying in an Airbnb gives me the privacy and peace of mind I need to focus on my game,” said de Minaur.

“I’m always grateful for my fans’ support, but having a place to call my own – where I can make my meals, relax and switch off – is an important part of my routine.”

For Alex, finding the right place to stay isn’t just about convenience, it’s about creating an environment where he can recharge mentally and physically.

“Airbnb feels less like being on the road and more like being at home, and that’s what makes the difference for me,” he added.

As fans gear up to watch Alex take on the world’s best, he’s also shared a personal wishlist of Airbnbs with or near tennis courts across Australia – perfect for those inspired to book a unique stay and hit the courts themselves.

Susan Wheeldon, Airbnb’s Country Manager for Australia, said partnering with de Minaur was an easy decision, “We’re thrilled that Alex chose to stay in a home on Airbnb as he kicks off his 2025 tennis season. Airbnb is all about providing a home away from home, offering athletes like Alex the privacy, room to breathe and kitchen facilities to prepare meals they need to perform at their best.”

“As one of Melbourne’s greatest attractions, the tournament draws an incredible number of tennis fans to the city every year from all over the world, giving locals the opportunity to open their doors on Airbnb to tennis stars and fans alike.”
