[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Celebrating its 60th birthday in April this year, Dr. Martens has invited 12 pioneering brands, labels and designers to express what the Docs brand signifies to them in a series of collaboration designs titled 1460: Remastered. The third style in the project – a collaboration between Japanese heavyweights Beams and LA label Babylon drops Saturday 28 March.

The new Beams x Babylon release follows on from collabs with streetwear heavyweights A Bathing Ape® in January, and iconic designer Raf Simons last month.
The new Beams x Babylon boot mixes Babylon’s skate aesthetic with Beams’ more understated design. It features Beams’ classic orange colour detailing throughout, including the boot’s laces, heel loop and welt stitching, and an orange stripe on the back. The boots also include a triple-branded lace charm in orange and beige, “Chaos” embossing on the side and Babylon’s flipped peace sign on the tongue.

The first Dr. Martens 1460 boots rolled off the production line on 1st April 1960 (1.4.60). They were designed for workers. Built to be tougher and more comfortable than any footwear on the market at the time. In the decades since, the simple silhouette has been adopted, shaped and subverted by countless subcultures and freethinkers. Stomped on stages, streets and runways. While always staying true to its original construction.

To mark its anniversary and kick-start a new decade, Dr. Martens asked the 12 pioneering brands, labels and designers to answer a simple seven-word brief: ‘What does the 1460 mean to you?’

Each one-off edition of the 1460 will reflect the partner’s personal history with Dr. Martens as well as Docs’ core DNA. All 12 brands have a long running connection with the Docs brand, and many have been wearing the boot since their teens.
The next 1460: Remastered will be announced soon. Stay tuned.
