Montaigne, Khadija Gbla, Tahliamh: Wisdom from the Motherland campaign for Bras N Things

Whether they are funny, thoughtful, practical or unconventional, there are few things as powerful and affirming as words of wisdom shared between women.

This Mother’s Day, Bras N Things are celebrating the wisdom of women and encouraging everyone to share what they have learnt from the important women in their life. Montaigne, Khadija Gbla, Tahlia Giumelli, Steph Claire Smith and Helen Chik star in the Wisdom from the Motherland campaign.

The campaign shoot was made even more special with Tahlia bringing her daughter Sophie along and Steph shooting with her mother Wendy for the first time.

As part of the campaign, each woman has also shared some wisdom from their own life experiences as women, mothers, daughters, activists, artists, leaders, and creators which will appear on campaign imagery in stores and online.

Of being part of the campaign Khadija Gbla said, “Mother’s Day for me is a celebration of motherhood in all its forms, not just for those who have birthed a child, but also for all the people who step up for children as aunties, uncles, grandmothers, and carers.

“My piece of advice to women is to roar loud. Make sure you are heard. Whatever you have to say is worth saying and worth hearing. Whatever your role is, know that you are valuable and your contribution matters.”

When asked about the wisdom she has gained over the years Helen Chik said, “Your gut instinct is more often right than it is wrong and trusting this has been the biggest lesson I’ve learnt over the years. If something doesn’t feel right then it probably isn’t.”

Tahlia Giumelli added, “The wisdom I have learnt over the years is that sometimes you need to go with the flow. You can’t control everything in life and sometimes the things that surprise you the most are the things you need the most, you just didn’t know it at the time.”

Bras N Things’ Mother’s Day collection features a selection of fashion and core lingerie pieces, luxe loungewear and sleepwear in the most popular colours and patterns of the season.

Head of Product at Bras N Things, Jessica Lauppe-Guy said, “I am constantly inspired by the women around me, but when we were creating this collection to be bold and vibrant, I was reminded of a bit of wisdom I received from my own mother: ‘Do something every day that makes you feel alive. There is always time to rest. Jump in the ocean in the middle of winter it’s good for your soul!’

“Our Mother’s Day collection this year is one of our most diverse and varied we’ve ever created. It truly speaks to our ‘I Am Many Things’ brand positioning with bold and bright satins, soft florals and snuggly fleece, as well as beautiful complementary lingerie pieces that range from super sassy to soft. There are beautiful pieces to gift your mother, the special women in your life, or yourself.”

Head of Marketing at Bras N Things, Natalie Chalmers said, “Mother’s Day is such a special time for those that are Mothers but we also know that for a range of reasons it can be one of the hardest times of the year for a lot of people. But one thing we know for sure is that, regardless of what this day means to each of us personally, we all know at least one awesome woman who has guided us or shared their wisdom which has helped us grow into the fabulous souls we are today.

“So, this Mother’s Day we want celebrate the funny, thoughtful, practical and aspirational wisdom that has helped each of us at some point in our life and share it with our community.”
