Thredbo: more snow has fallen!

Thredbo is feeling all the blizzard vibes this morning after a drop in temps and fresh snow flurries this morning. With exactly a month before Opening Weekend, fresh snowfall means the countdown is well and truly on for an awesome season ahead!

The snow season is set to kick off on June 12 with Opening Weekend celebrations. Expect a big line-up of entertainment, activities and parties including GH Mumm Long Lunch, live Ice Sculpture presentations, après, light projections and more.

Ice Sculpture –  World famous ice sculpture Kenji is back to create some winter magic. He will be carving out beautiful designs in the village square on Saturday from 1pm. Kenji is known for producing traditional hand-made ice sculptures and has previously sculpted many beautiful pieces for past opening weekends.

Light Projections – Under the cover of darkness Thredbo will come to life! A series of light projections are to be cast over areas of the mountain for spectacular views from the village.

Live Music – Live music is back for 2021 and what better way to kick off the season then a boogie with friends! A range of venues across the mountain will play host to a variety of artists. Thredbo favourite Mark Travers will be playing all the classic hits to open the season on Friday night in the Lounge Bar, followed by a classic pub set in the Schuss Bar on Saturday evening. Everybody’s favourite venue is back in action as Alpine Après presented by Heineken turns it up a notch. DJ Scott Bruce takes the stage at the Alpine Bar from 3pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Merritts Gondola – Take a ride up the Gondola and enjoy a Corona Sunsets party on the Merritts Deck. DJ Dom Furber will be providing the vibes from 2pm-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Street Performers – Catch an array of fabulous street performers roaming around the village all weekend. From Clowns to Bogong Moths and Butterflies on stilts, there’s something to keep everyone entertained.

Fireworks – Opening the season with a BANG! Everyone loves a fireworks display, and boy do we have a big one planned for Saturday night. Look to the stars at 6pm.

G.H. Mumm Long Lunch – It wouldn’t be opening weekend without the annual G.H. Mumm Long Lunch in the Village Square. The crowd favourite will take place on Sunday with bubbles and a curated menu. Mark Travers will be singing tunes live to get the vibes going! – This Event is Sold Out.
